Educate, excite, engage: social media for Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink

Each year, Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink welcomes thousands of visitors to the heart of the city to enjoy regional food, drink, chefs and activities. As part of our PR and marketing activity for the festival, One Voice manages and creates campaigns for hree social media channels to increase awareness of the festival, build excitement around the event and engage with passionate foodies locally, regionally and nationally.

Our social media content focuses on the core festival message: championing South West produce and producers. We engage with exhibitors to shout about the exceptional food and drink available to visitors, thank festival sponsors and create national media and brand partnerships.


  • 24.53% increase in Facebook followers in the last year
  • 4.14% increase in Twitter followers in the last year
  • Introduced an Instagram account and attracted just under 1,000 followers
  • Delivered content daily across each social media profile

The InExeter Christmas light switch on event 2018

One Voice was tasked with developing a PR, digital & marketing comms plan to support the event with two key objectives; communicate a venue change and a change of day.

The aim was to:

  • Draw families from a wider catchment into Exeter;
  • Encourage families to enjoy, explore and discover the city centre over a full day;
  • Raise footfall during the full Sunday trading day enabling all areas of the city to benefit;
  • Add to the Christmas in Exeter proposition: Thursday Cathedral Christmas Market opening, Friday Christmas Grotto launch, Saturday Guildhall and Sunday, InExeter celebration.

Activity included:

  • Preparing and issuing press releases to local, regional & broadcast media about the event
  • Generate unique and engaging content for the digital platforms 
  • Identify and buy advertising space in key media 

The event was a great success for the city with One Voice generating some strong results.

Seaton Social Media

In January 2018, One Voice launched the social media channels for Seaton Town Council.

One Voice was tasked with producing engaging content to attract not just visitors to Seaton but also to build a relationship with exiting members of the community. This included supporting Seaton’s independent shops.

To do this, every month the team would visit Seaton’s independent retailers and cafes, learn about their business, capture images and engaging content for social channels.

Over the past year, One Voice has created monthly content calendars which include regular campaigns including competitions,  ‘meet the retailer’ profiling and ‘book reviews with Owl and Pyramid’.

The social media channels are going from strength to strength.
