InExeter to welcome Exeter Chiefs to major festive event

InExeter has confirmed that Exeter Chief wingers, Olly Woodburn and Jack Nowell have accepted the honour of switching on the city’s festive lights at this year’s Christmas light switch on event. Taking place on Thursday 16 November, the event is set to draw thousands of residents and visitors to the heart of the city for a huge family friendly celebration brimming with entertainment and live music.

Hosts Ashley Jeary and Ben Clark of Radio Exe will introduce exciting acts from 4pm on the Thursday with the official switch on taking place from 6.20pm. More entertainment is planned until 7pm when the evening will draw to a close and visitors can make the most of the city’s first late night shopping Thursday and the Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market, supported by InExeter.

As well as live performances from Jonah & The Superband, a Festive House Band and Exeter Cathedral Choristers, there will be a special spot for the winner of InExeter and Radio Exe’s Star InExeter competition, who will be announced shortly.

Ann Hunter, InExeter and Exeter BID manager said: “Kick off your countdown to Christmas in the heart of Exeter as we celebrate an incredible evening filled with festive family fun.  We’re delighted to have the Exeter Chiefs switch on our lights which will illuminate the whole city and thrilled that our Star InExeter competition winners will entertain the crowds with their uplifting music.  It’s an evening not to be missed.”

Visitors and residents of the city can pick up their free copy of the Christmas Guide at the Visitor Information Centre or go online at www.inexeter.com for a festive What’s On listing.
