One Voice experience for Alice

By Alice Beatty

12 July 2016

After completing my first year of studying English at University I wanted to spend the summer gaining work experience in an industry that has always had my interest, PR and Marketing. I contacted the One Voice team as I was intrigued by their website, and was very excited when they offered me the opportunity of a week’s work experience to see how the agency was run.

Throughout the week the team have been wonderful to work with and were welcoming from the beginning, answering any questions I had and explaining any tasks well. I was given a variety of jobs to try, including researching events around Devon to put on websites and their social media, writing copy, compiling competition entries and creating collages to promote events. I was especially excited when I was given the chance to draft a press release, as this was something I was particularly interested in regarding the PR industry. It was a very eye opening week to see how much time and effort the team put into their campaigns, and it was great be a part of it while gaining such valuable experience and new skills.

My week at one voice has been incredibly rewarding as I feel like I’ve learnt so much and developed my writing and organising skills, as well as experiencing an office environment. I have been given an insight into what goes on behind the scenes with event planning, brand promotions and marketing campaigns which will no doubt help me in the future and in my career. I cannot thank the team enough for giving me this opportunity and it was a pleasure to work with everyone!
