Exeter Initiative for Science and Technology (ExIST) Event at the Met Office
23 September 2011
The One Voice team was delighted by the attendance at today's first ExIST (Exeter Initiative for Science and Technology) Event, organised by Exeter Chamber. More than 100 people attended the event hosted by the Met Office. With speakers from five fantastic Science and Technology companies the event showcased the talent which already exists locally.
Over the course of an hour Dave Underwood from the Met Office, James Brookes from TCL Global, Andrew MacLeod from Supacat, Andrew Rosser from Flybe Training Academy and David Balchin from Ashwoods Automotive all shared their experiences of establishing and building their businesses in Exeter and the surrounding area.
Attendees found that the event demonstrated the breadth of services, skills and products being offered locally. Hailey Tamblyn, Associate Director of Card Geotechnics and attendee of today's event said ‘I was surprised to learn just how many Science and Technology related industries we have on our doorstep and found it really useful to meet some of the companies: at future events I hope to establish a network of professionals and links which will help us build our business.'
